Pretty Yarn! Pretty Yarn!

After 8 years of buying yarn I am still surprised by how big my heart is that I can fall in love with yarn all the time. Same goes for Sharon.

We got a fill-in order from Karabella Yarns of Aurora 8. Aurora 8 is the greatest worsted merino on the planet. They were out of cream so I ordered a color very much like it. I opened the box and oooooooooooooooh. It isn't yellow like a cream it is more of an oatmeal. White, merino - the most basic of yarns and I fell in love.

Sharon opened new color cards from Lorna's Laces. Had to have the the new butternut color. Luckily, Amanda from Lorna's called at just that minute and Sharon was able to put her request in: one bag bulky. She jumped up and down with joy, okay, more of a bouncing motion. She knows exactly what she is doing.

A bog box of Jitterbug sock yarn arrived, too. 35 colors. 34 great colors, one so-so. I'm sure someone will like that one color that I think is so-so.

Come in and check it out. We know it is really cold but come on in, the wool is warm.

"No, she's just wrong"

Fern came into today and is working on a very pretty jacket. She read ahead in the pattern and did the math for the increases. And when she did the math it didn't add up. Fern said "I just don't get that."

Sharon said "You don't get it because the pattern is wrong".

Lesson: Go through the numbers in a pattern. If it doesn't add up it is most likely not you who has made the mistake. It is more likely that the pattern is wrong.

If it is from a book, magazine or on-line pattern, check for corrections on line.

Has your special someone showed you some fiber love?

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day. Has your special someone shown you some fiber love? Flowers wither and fade, yarn is forever. You can give them some simple words to remember: sock yarn, alpaca, Noro to help guide them. If they are unsure of what to do, a gift certificate is a safe choice. They still have time to stop by and pick one up. We're open until 8!

HAPPY FAT SUPERTUESDAY!!!

Whatever you celebrate today - voting, beginning of Lent, or beads and wicked rum drinks - have fun. Don't stay up too late and if you are going to overindulge, please overindulge in fiber. Sock yarn is good. Or a rich mohair for a lacey spring scarf.
